The Mission of Burma Story: Not a Photograph is a video that depicts the comeback reunion of this Boston band. Originally formed in 1979 with members Roger Miller, Clint Conley, Peter Prescott and Martin Swope, the band, Mission of Burma, hailed by critics as ahead of their time. While they earned critical acclaim, this band was not able to sell enough records to be successful and they broke up in 1983. Although the band stopped performing, many bands including R.E.M., Sonic Youth, Nirvana and The Pixies would claim they were greatly influenced by Mission of Burma. Feeling that the time was right, the band made the decision to reunite in 2002 with Miller, Cooley, Prescott and new member Bob Winston who replaced Swope. This reunion is the focal point of the video, as it follows the band on their journey to success and to see if time has caught up with their style of music yet. The video includes plenty of clips from their earlier years including TV appearances, recording sessions and other footage of the band performing.moreless
