The Monitors is a 1969 sci-fi comedy film directed by Jack Shea. Featuring a twist on the classic alien-invasion plot, the aliens that invade Earth force the humans to clean up their acts. Acting in a sense like hall monitors, the aliens forbid all humans to engage in politics, violence, and sex. While on the surface, humanity seems to accept these changes, but an underground rebellion grows to overthrow the aliens and restore humanity's control over the planet. Harry (Guy Stockwell) is the protagonist of this film and is a member of the human rebellion against the monitors, as he believes humankind has a right to live how they choose. Also joining him is Mona (Sherry Jackson), as they attempt to reclaim Earth with the help of Colonel Stutz (Larry Storch), among others. The Monitors simply want to improve Earth as they see fit, but they come to realize that the humans are not as docile as they intended.
