The Mouse That Roared is a hilarious satire from 1959 based on the cold war. The smallest country in the world, Grand Fenwick, whose largest export is wine for the U.S. nearly goes bankrupt when a California winery begins to make a wine that competes with their brand. Upon seeing the generosity of America toward the countries that it defeated in World War II, the prime minister, Count Rupert of Mountjoy (Peter Sellers) decides to declare war on the U.S. When military leader Tully Bascombe (Peter Seller) and his medieval-like minions go to invade New York, the streets are deserted due to an evacuation caused by a disturbance from the inventor of a new bomb called the Q Bomb, invented by Professor Alfred Kokintz (David Kossoff). When Tully's army is spotted in New York, they are mistaken as aliens because of the strangeness of their garb. Instead of declaring war, and then surrendering which was the plan, Tully decides they should kidnap the inventor of the Q Bomb to ensure the success of Grand Fenwick. Peter Sellers has a triple role in this funny film directed by Jack Arnold.moreless
