The Mummy's Hand is a horror film released in 1940 and directed by Christy Cabanne. In this movie, two archaeologists, Steve Banning (Dick Foran) and Babe Jenson (Wallace Ford), receive funding from a strange benefactor to go in search of the tomb of an Egyptian Princess. They find instead a cave containing Kharis (Tom Tyler), a mummy who had been buried alive centuries before and is kept alive by a sacred brew of tana leaves administered each full moon by a secret priesthood. The two archaeologists inadvertently release the mummy, who begins a murderous rampage through the camp. Banning and Jenson must find a way to destroy the mummy and rescue Marta (Peggy Moran), the beautiful daughter of the man who funded the expedition. The Mummy's Hand is considered one of the classics of the horror genre and spawned three sequels featuring the mummy Kharis. The film was produced by Ben Pivar.
