The Nail, also known as The Nail: The Story of Joey Nardone, is a 2009 independent sports drama directed by James Quattrochi. In the film, Joey Nardone (Tony Luke Jr.) was involved in a tragic accident and sentenced to eight years in prison. The movie begins with him being released from prison and returning to his former Philadelphia neighborhood. The former heavyweight boxer is currently overweight and out-of-shape, but he goes back to the gym he used to work-out at and finds a job. Although he has reunited with his neighborhood, his friends and his old gym, Nardone is struggling to find anything meaningful in his life until he meets Jesus (Paul Orrantia). Jesus is a 14-year-old Puerto Rican teenager who Nardone notices is often bullied by other boys. To make matters worse, Jesus also has an alcoholic father who is prone to abusing him.
