The Nephew is a 1998 drama directed by Eugene Brady. Tony Egan (Donal McCann) lives a quiet and contented life in Ireland. He still has memories of his sister who left for the United States many years ago and did not bother to keep in touch. Tony's life changes dramatically when he finally hears word from his nephew, Chad (Hill Harper). It turns out that Chad is now an orphan and is coming to Ireland to connect with his uncle. Tony tries to adjust to the shock, but he is in for a surprise when Chad arrives and it is clear that he had an African-American father. Since there are not many biracial people in Tony's small Irish village, Chad finds himself viewed with distrust and sometimes hostility. Chad tries to get used to the slow pace of the small village and eventually the villagers, including the local bartender, Joe Brady (Pierce Brosnan), start to warm to him. However, his romance with Joe's daughter, Aislin (Aislin Mcguckin), opens up old wounds and threatens Chad's happiness.moreless
