The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking is a 1988 Swedish-American fantasy adventure musical movie based on Swedish author Astrid Lindgren’s popular children’s books about the lovable, spunky little girl, Pippi Longstocking (Tami Erin). In the movie, from Columbia Pictures, Pippi Longstocking has to spend some time on land, when her father’s ship ‘Hoptoad’ is carried off by a sudden storm, leaving her behind. Luckily for her, she is not entirely alone—she has her pet monkey, Mr. Nilsson, and her horse, Alfonso, there to help her pass the time. She takes up residence in the old family home and it is not long until she meets two kids, Tommy Settegren (David Seaman Jr.) and Annika Settegreen (Cory Crow), whom she immediately befriends. When it comes to friends and adventures, the more the merrier! The film is a lighthearted classic about family, friends, and individuality, which has the potential to span generations. The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking was nominated for two 1989 Razzie Awards.moreless
