The New Twenty proves that turning thirty years old is not always an easy task. In his directorial debut, Chris Mason Johnson tells a story about a group of friends in New York coming to grips with maturity. The film opens with a successful business woman, Julie (Nicole Bilderback), arguing with her fianc'' Andrew (Ryan Locke). He wants to quit his job and enter a high-risk project with venture capitalist Louie (Terry Serpico). Julie does not trust Andrew's new partner, who seems to want the couple to separate for unknown reasons. Her gay brother Tony (Andrew Wei Lin) then surprises Julie with news that he's in love with Robert (Bill Sage), an elder man with HIV. Meanwhile, Andy's heavyset friend and potential business partner Ben (Colin Fickes), tries to convince Julie to let Andrew go ahead with the start-up company. She has a problem with him working with her fianc'' because Ben's brother Felix (Thomas Sadoski) is a heroin addict, who just started a relationship with her friend Lucy (Cordelia Reynolds). All the characters in this odd group of friends have to come to terms with their problems, as their 30th birthdays are just around the corner.moreless
