The Notebook is the 2004 hit romantic drama based on Nicholas Sparks' novel starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, and is available on Amazon. At a nursing home, an elderly man (James Garner) reads a love story from a notebook to an elderly woman with Alzheimer's disease (Gena Rowlands). The story begins in the early 1940's where poor local boy Noah Calhoun (Gosling) meets a rich beautiful Allie Hamilton (McAdams). The two fall deeply in love and spend a wonderful summer together. However their love is cut short when Allie goes away to college and Noah joins the army to forget about his loss. Seven long years of thinking about one another go by without a word between them, until one day they meet again. However Allie is engaged to a wealthy lawyer and must now choose between them. The elderly man reads to the elderly woman in hopes of triggering her memory, where the love story lives on.
