The Opera Lover is a 1999 comedy written by Ron Lazzeretti. It is co-directed by Ron Lazzeretti and Venturino Liberatore. George Krikkos (Tom Bastounes) is a middle-aged divorcee and former playboy who is now working as a produce seller in his father's small grocery store. He is somewhat content with his life but is lonely and longs for something more. He dreams of continuing his operatic singing career but does not have the time, or motivation to do so. His life suddenly takes a dramatic turn when meets a former lover, Gina (Monica Zaffarano), in a bar. The two dated years ago, but the relationship ended when Gina moved away to New York to pursue a singing career. Their chance meeting becomes a one night stand and lingers as two to decide to perform together. What was intended to be a one time publicity stunt quickly blossoms into more as magic kindles both on stage and off.
