The Outsider is a 1980 movie set in the early 1970s that tells the story of Michael Flaherty (Craig Wasson). An American Vietnam veteran of Irish decent, Michael heads to Belfast to see his grandfather, Seamus (Sterling Hayden), as well as join the fight for his home country against the British. He soon realizes that he is not as welcome as he thought in Ireland by the local people. On top of that, Michael becomes the target of an IRA assassination plot. If Michael gets killed, the IRA believes that it will make the British look bad causing wealthy American investors to support the Irish front. The Irish desperately need the financial support from the Americans if they are to stand any chance of winning. Will Michael elude the assassins, or will his time on earth come to an end? Tony Luraschi directs this action-packed drama full of war scenes, fighting, and suspenseful moments.
