The Park is Mine is the story of Mitch Garnett (Tommy Lee Jones), a Vietnam veteran who unwittingly inherits a mission from his friend Mike (Eric Peterson). Mike's untimely death saddles Mitch with the burden of publicizing the plight of the Vietnam veteran. Mitch initially rejects the plan to take possession of Central Park seventy-two hours before Veteran's Day, but after a series of disrespectful and humiliating incidents, Mitch unleashes the artillery and takes control of the park. Valerie Weaver (Helen Shavers), a reporter and videographer, is unwittingly trapped inside the park but she is able to chronicle Mitch's saga. Deputy Mayor Dix (Peter Dvorsky) is as committed to defeating Mitch as Mitch is committed to keeping control of Central Park. Mitch has to hold off the NYC Police Department and foreign mercenaries that the Deputy Mayor hired to defeat him. The resulting conflict makes for an action packed film with a disconcerting conclusion.
