The Passion of Darkly Noon is a 1995 film written and directed by Philip Ridley and starring Brendan Fraser, Ashley Judd, and Viggo Mortensen. Darkly Noon (Fraser) has spent his entire life raised by an ultraconservative Christian cult. When an altercation within the cult leaves the cult disbanded and his parents dead, Darkly runs into the Appalachian Mountains. He is eventually rescued by Jude (Loren Dean) and his friend Callie (Judd). As they nurse Darkly back to health, he begins to have feelings for Callie, and when her mute boyfriend Clay (Mortensen) returns home, his jealous gets the best of him. Unable to cope with these newfound emotions, Darkly must learn how to live outside of the cult. Before he can be tamed, however, Darkly takes action that will alter his life forever. The Passion of Darkly Noon was nominated for the Bronze Horse Award at the 1995 Stockholm Film Festival.
