The Payaso Comedy Slam is a live variety performance recorded in 2008 featuring stand-up performances from seven comics. As the host of the evening, Alex Reymundo explains all cultures throughout history have clown characters whose purpose is often to uplift and entertain. So to celebrate Latino culture, Reymundo brings seven "payasos" (Spanish for clown) to the stage to uplift and entertain a diverse audience with Latino comedy. Erik Griffin mostly makes fun of the differences between women of different cultures. Edwin San Juan brings a multi-ethnic perspective by making fun of his Latino and Filipino heritage. Johnny Sanchez humorously shares his theory on racial appearance versus cultural identity. George Perez makes fun of his prison experience and adjusting to life after prison. Ricky Ramos brings out a more intimate brand of comedy when he sits down and improvises jokes about the audience members themselves. Jeff Garcia pokes fun at the drinking of his past and the sobriety in his current life, and finally Joey Diaz makes fun of sex and relationships.moreless
