The Poseidon Adventure is a 1972 film about a disastrous cruise ship voyage. The SS Poseidon, a massive luxury liner on its final assignment, is sailing from New York to Athens. Captain Harrison (Leslie Nelson) has safety concerns, but the ship's owners overrule his protests and insist that the Poseidon sail at full speed. On New Year's Eve, a group of passengers is invited to dine with the captain, including Reverend Frank Scott (Gene Hackman), teenager Susan (Pamela Sue Martin) and her younger brother Robin (Eric Shea), and an older couple, Manny (Jack Albertson) and Belle (Shelley Winters), looking forward to a visit with their new grandson. Just after ringing in the New Year, Harrison learns that a deadly tidal wave is headed for the Poseidon, and it is too late to change course. Harrison and his guests desperately try to make their way out before the capsized ship sinks, but their plans may be thwarted by powerful explosions and uncooperative passengers.moreless
