The Postman Always Rings Twice is the sultry 1981 remake of the noir crime classic about an unfaithful wife and her con man lover, starring Oscar winners Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange. During the Great Depression, drifter Frank Chambers (Jack Nicholson) happens upon the Twin Oaks Roadside Stand and charms its friendly owner, Nick Papadakis (John Colicos) into letting him stay and work. The older Greek is married to the luscious Cora (Jessica Lange), who is clearly bored with the older man she married for security. She spends her days bitterly running the kitchen until she sets eyes on the virile Frank. The immediate attraction between Frank and Cora quickly leads to an intense and passionate affair, right under the nose of unsuspecting Nick. The two lovers convince themselves that killing Nick is their only possible option with unintended circumstances for them all. Bob Rafelson ("Five Easy Pieces") directs a script by noted playwright David Mamet, based on the James Cain novel.
