Movie Summary

Director:
Christopher Nolan
Released:
2006
Rating:
PG-13

The Prestige is about two rival magicians who compete against each other to create the most spectacular illusions in 19th century London. Alfred Borden and Robert Angier once worked together as assistants to Milton the Magician when they were young. During one trick, Alfred makes a mistake that leads to the death of Robert's wife, fueling a competition between the two magicians that begins to consume their lives. Things take a turn for the sinister, when Alfred performs a trick so spectacular that Robert is driven mad trying to figure out how he did it. His obsession leads Robert from London to Colorado Springs, where he encounters historical figure Nikola Tesla and obtains his help. When Alfred learns that Robert has successfully figured out his illusion, he sabotages the trick, killing Robert in the process. However, nothing is quite as it seems in a world where illusion is king.
