The Prince and the Pauper is based on the novel written by Mark Twain in the early twentieth century. The story follows Tom Canty (Dylan Sprouse), a typical boy who aspires to be an actor one day. This passion causes his peers to drift away from him, as they are unable to understand his actions and feelings. His only true friend is an elderly man and former actor, Miles (Vincent Spano). Tom gets the striking idea to sneak onto a nearby movie set and meet his role mode, a child actor Eddie Tudor (Cole Sprouse). Eddie's disrespectful attitude and lack of empathy have put him on the edge of being fired. After the two boys meet, they hatch a brilliant plan to trade places for a day. Unfortunately, when the film changes sets and everyone is required to relocate to Miami to finish the movie, they are each stuck in the other's shoes.
