Rating:
PG-13
The Professionals is the 1966 classic, Oscar nominated action western featuring an all star cast of familiar genre faces, breathtaking action and fast-flying badinage, from Academy Award nominated screenwriter-director Richard Brooks (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, In Cold Blood, Elmer Gantry, Blackboard Jungle). Out in the old west, four professional problem eliminators are hired by a wealthy Texan to rescue his kidnapped wife. There's Hans Ehrengard (Robert Ryan, The Wild Bunch, The Longest Day, Billy Budd, Anzio), the horse expert; Jake Sharp (Woody Strode, Once Upon a Time in the West, Kingdom of the Spiders), the bow-and-arrow man; Bill Dolworth (Burt Lancaster, The Train, The Sweet Smell of Success), master of all things explosive; and Rico Fardan (Lee Marvin, The Dirty Dozen, Paint Your Wagon, The Big Red One), the leader of the bunch. As these men tackle the rough and rowdy job, things turn out more complicated than they had anticipated.
