The Rain Makers is a 2005 film set in 1973 in a small city in the Arizona desert. At the time, the United States government is involved with the Vietnam War. The members of the community despise the government's affairs in Vietnam, and decide to form a utopian society away from the violence. However, their utopia fails, as the rest of America sees the group as anti-American as they are made up mainly hippies, artists, and pacifists. The local officials harass them, and the local people despise them. One day, a local real estate agent wants to rid the group of hippies from the land, forcing the group to take a stand against the greedy land developer. With almost no allies, will the anti-American group keep their land, or will the real estate developer run them off? Ray Ellingsen directs this drama that stars Jake Busey, Richard Hatch, Ray Wise, and David Andrews.
