The Rainbow is a 1989 dramatic romance directed by Ken Russell. In the film, Ursula Brangwen (Sammi Davis) is a young woman growing up in 1900 English countryside. The naive young woman is struggling with the pressures of adolescence and young adulthood. There are so many things she is curious about, but doesn't know who she can talk to, or how she can find out the information on her own. She finds comfort in her sophisticated school gym teacher, Winifred Inger (Amanda Donohoe), who is eager to answer Ursula's questions. The two develop a friendship and Ursula feels more confident after they spend time together. However, when a young Army officer falls in love with Ursula and wants to pursue a deeper relationship with her, she hesitates and realizes she does not know what she wants out of left yet. Will Ursula find what she is looking for, or is she destined to be alone for the rest of her life?moreless
