The Relic is a 1997 science fiction movie directed by Peter Hyams. The movie is based on Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's best-selling book, Relic. In the film, a young anthropologist from the Museum of Natural History, John Whitney (Lewis Van Bergon) travels to South America to study a tribe there. When his crates that were to be full of findings arrive back at the museum with no sign of John, the staff is worried. Their worry is heightened when it is discovered that people on the ship, which carried the crates, were murdered. Lt. Vincent D'Agosta (Tome Sizeman) and his partner Sgt. Hollingsworth (Clayton Rohner) are put on the case and go to the museum to investigate. They speak with evolutionary biologist, Dr. Margo Green (Penelope Ann Miller) who shows them the crates and the lone item inside, a statue of the mythical forest creature, Kothoga. When a guard at the museum dies in the same strange way as the crew on the ship, the museum is closed off. What happens next will astonish everyone involved in the case.moreless
