The Replacements is a sports movie following a team of ragtag football players and former professional castoffs like Shane Falco (Keanu Reeves) who come together as a team of replacement players while the professional players are on strike. The team is put together by legendary coach Jimmy McGinty (Gene Hackman), who personally recruits his players from all walks of life to complete his vision of a coachable team that is able to win enough games to make it to the playoffs. The motley crew features a Sumo Wrestler as an offensive linemen, a chain-smoking Welsh soccer player as the kicker, and a deranged SWAT team operative as linebacker. While the players initially clash, they are able to come together as a team (with the help of some jail time singing and dancing.) Their quarterback is former college star Shane Falco, who gets one last chance to prove he can win as a pro quarterback. Not only are the players on strike, but so are the cheerleaders. Its the job of Annabelle Farrell (Brooke Langton) to assemble her own team of replacement cheerleaders, while she pines for Shane Falco.
