The Return Of The Vampire is a classic early horror film about a slain vampire that is resurrected and sets out to enact revenge on the family that killed him. Priory Cemetery is the dark and eerie resting place of vampire Armand Tesla (Bela Lugosi), who is awakened by his servant, the Wolfman (Matt Willis). On the same night in 1918, Dr. Jane Ainsley (Frieda Inescort) enacts revenge for almost killing a young girl by finding his resting place and driving a stake through his heart. But 23 years later, a German air raid shockingly brings the vampire back again, with the tables of revenge now turned. Assuming the identity of Dr. Hugo Bruckner, Tesla works his way into the life of Dr. Ainsley, and more importantly, Nicki (Nina Foch), the now grown young girl that nearly fell victim to his wrath years before. With the Wolfman back in his service, Tesla gets dangerously close to Nicki, threatening to finish what he started, but will he succeed in his vengeance or will history repeat itself? Lew Landers directs this monster movie vehicle for Lugosi, perhaps the most notorious vampire of all time.moreless
