The Revolt of the Slaves is a classic Italian action film about a slave that starts a revolution in 4th-century Rome. In a story fully immersed in the barbaric scenery of Rome during the 4rth century, Vibio (Lang Jeffries), a Christian slave, denies the order to fight as a gladiator in the ever popular, yet often fatal custom of the time. In response to his insubordinate refusal, Fabiola (Rhonda Fleming) his master's daughter, whips Vibio mercilessly, prompting an outpouring of kindness from her cousin Agnese (Wandisa Guida). Touched by this new found pity, Fabiola begins to show empathy to the slaves' plight, and especially begins to see the striking Vibio as more than a mere servant. Fabiola aides him and the rest of the slaves in a huge and unprecedented uprising against their ruthless owners. Nunzio Malasomma directs this classic 1960 film based in part on Cardinal Wiseman's novel Fabiola.
