The movie is based around Gail Hartman, a white-water rafting expert, who takes her family on a trip down a river. As they venture down the river, they meet two men who claim to need help as their two friends are lost down river. Believing them, the family agrees to help, only to find out that they are actually just a pair of armed robbers, Wade and Terry, who have escaped from jail. The robbers end up forcing the family to go down river with them to join the rest of their team. As a result, the trip is ruined and Gail's family is now fighting for their lives. Will they be able to survive this encounter, or will the escaped criminals get what they want in the end?
