The River Wild is an action/adventure movie directed by Curtis Hanson and produced by Universal Pictures, Turman-Foster Company, and David Foster Productions in 1994. The movie is based around Gail Hartman (Meryl Streep), a white water rafting expert, who takes her family on a trip down a river. As they venture down the river, they meet two men who claim to need help as their two friends are lost down river. Believing them, the family agrees to help, only to find out that they are actually just a pair of armed robbers, Wade (Kevin Bacon) and Terry (John C. Reilly), who have escaped from jail. The robbers end up forcing the family to go down river with them to join the rest of their team. As a result, the trip is ruined and Gail's family is now fighting for their lives. Will they be able to survive this encounter, or will the escaped criminals get what they want in the end?
