The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 British musical and cult classic starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and Meat Loaf in a bizarre tale of crime, sex, and rock and roll that takes place on night at Dr. Frank-N-Furter's Annual Transylvanian Convention. Curry plays Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a "sweet transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania." Frank-N-Furter lives in a grand castle, and one stormy evening he opens his doors to Brad and Janet (Bostwick and Sarandon), two weary travelers in need of a safe refuge. What they find is anything but safe, as Frank-N-Furter's odd assortment of sexually unrestrained and criminally insane guests quickly begin terrorizing the young couple. This film has gained a huge following across multiple generations and currently stands as having the longest theatrical release of any film in history, having been played in theaters consistently for thirty-five years straight. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a landmark film full of shocking characters and brilliant musical numbers from composers Richard O'Brien and Richard Hartley.moreless

Most of the jokes that might have seemed jolly fun on stage now appear obvious and even flat. The sparkle's gone.
