The Satanic Rites of Dracula is a 1973 English Hammer Horror film directed by Alan Gibson. It stars the legendary actor Christopher Lee as Count Dracula. The film is set in London in the 70s as Scotland Yard police investigators believe they have found a case of vampirism. So they call in an expert vampire researcher named Van Helsing (played by Peter Cushing) who is a descendant of the original, legendary vampire hunter, of course! Scotland Yard wants this new Van Helsing to put a stop to the horrific and bloody murders. It is revealed that the murderer is actually the legendary Count Dracula himself who has disguised himself as a reclusive developer of property. Meanwhile Dracula is planning to release a fatal virus onto the whole world. This horror film has science fiction overtones, as Dracula is dabbling in the scientific virus creation. This film is considered to be better than Dracula AD 1972, the previous attempt by Hammer to update Dracula into the modern age.moreless
