The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior is an action adventure film directed by Russell Mulcahy that acts as a sequel to The Scorpion King as it follows a young Mathayus (Michael Copon), known in the future as the Scorpion King, in his quest to avenge his father. As a small willful child, his fighting spirit and skills gain the attention of Sargon (Randy Couture), a powerful mystic of sorts within the ranks of the Akkadian courts, who demands for Mathayus to be trained as a Black Scorpion. It is Mathayus’s father’s denial of the training that led to his death and to his son’s thirst to destroy Sargon, the new king of Akkad. Helped by his childhood friend Layla (Karen David), poet Ari (Simon Quarterman), and lost man, Fung (Tom Wu), Mathayus travels to the pits of hell in order to find the Sword of Damocles, the only thing capable of destroying the power hungry and god-gifted Sargon.
