The Secret of My Success is a comedy that lampoons the American corporate world. After graduating Kansas State University, Brantley Foster (Michael J. Fox) gets a finance job and moves to New York City. Upon arrival, he discovers that his company had been bought out and dismantled. Desperate to find another job, Brantley applies for a mailboy position at his uncle's company. His drive to climb the corporate ladder is stronger than ever. He searches over the company records and finds a multitude of flaws that he could easily fix if only given the chance. His chance comes when he finds out that, due to recent firings, a lot of positions are open in the company. Brantley poses as an executive and has to juggle both his mailboy and his "suit" position. This leads to a comedy of errors, where he is constantly forced to swap identities in order to keep from being discovered. All the while, he falls in love with a beautiful Christy Wills (Helen Slater), who just happens to be his boss's new mistress.
