The Secret of the Red Orchid (originally titled Das R''tsel der roten Orchidee) is a 1962 crime thriller by West German writer Edgar Wallace. Scotland Yard Inspector Weston (Adrian Hoven) and FBI agent Captain Allerman (Christopher Lee) team up to tackle the mystery of a series of London blackmail and murders aimed at rich businessmen. The crimes are being perpetrated by figures styling themselves "The Patrons of the Rich," who demand payoffs from their victims if they don't want to join the ranks of the murdered. Allerman, the FBI's agent with the most experience with gangs, has been brought in because authorities suspect the involvement of Chicago mobster boss Gunner Steve (Klaus Kinski), who's set up shop in the city. Meanwhile, socialite Lilian Ranger (Marisa Mel) is worried about her butler Parker (Eddie Arent), whose former employers all keep dying. Weston and Allerman fight to keep themselves and Ranger alive when they find themselves faced with the diabolical machinations of an international crime syndicate.moreless
