The Seven Year Itch is a 1955 romantic comedy directed by Billy Wilder. Richard Sherman (Tommy Ewell) is a Manhattan business person left alone for the summer to work while his wife, Helen Sherman (Evelyn Keyes) and son head to the country. Sherman has resolved himself not to carouse like many of his associates while they lead the lives of bachelors over the summer. When a voluptuous blonde (Marilyn Monroe) moves in upstairs, Sherman's imagination gets the better of him. The seductive and flirtatious girl drops downstairs to Richard's apartment, and he invites her to dinner. When the girl confides that she keeps her undergarments in the icebox in the hot weather, his fidelity is put to the test. Great, comedic performances are delivered by a nervous plumber (Victor Moore), Ewell's boss (Donald McBride) and a handyman (Robert Strauss). This movie includes one of Hollywood's greatest movie images when Monroe's white dress blows skyward as she stands by a passing subway car.
