The only secret he keeps from them is the fact that he is able to assume the form of a dog when a special inscription is read on a magical ring that is kept in a nearby museum. After their home is robbed while they are on vacation, Wilby vows to leave his job as a lawyer and run for district attorney so that he can clean up his corrupt town. Things take a turn for the worse, however, when the magical ring is stolen and Wilby is repeatedly transformed into a dog while trying to run for office.
