The Sheepman is a 1958 Western film directed by George Marshall. It tells the story of Jason Sweet (Glenn Ford), a gambler who wins a herd of sheep in a poker game. He takes his prize by train in the cattle country but finds out that the locals are unhappy with that. They will try to run him out at all costs. He proves himself a strong man by winning a fight against "Jumbo" McCall (Mickey Shaughnessy). Dell Payton (Shirley MacLaine) is a beautiful woman who becomes attracted to this brave man, and the feeling is mutual. Sweet recognizes that her suitor, the local cattle baron "Colonel" Stephen Bedford (Leslie Nielsen), is his old enemy, Johnny Bledsoe, who settled down for a more peaceful and trouble-free life. The tension between them rises and it all comes to a final showdown battle. Sweet is quick and skillful with his guns, but Bedford is a dangerous enemy. Who will emerge as the winner in this conflict and earn the heart of the charming girl?
