The Sound of Music is the 1965 musical sensation that has become a staple of the genre, won numerous Academy Awards and remains one of the most beloved films of all time, from director Robert Wise (The Day the Earth Stood Still). Julie Andrews (My Fair Lady) stars as Maria, a nun who is just so in love with the world. The nuns get tired of it, so they send her off to become the nanny of Colonel Von Trapp's (Christopher Plummer, Wolf, Dolores Claiborne) house. There are tons of kids in the family. At first, the kids don't like her, but they soon start to. There are many things going on in the house. The oldest daughter is dating a Nazi. The father is engaged to a obstreperous shrew. Maria soon falls in love with the father, and the father soon falls for her. Winner of five Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Music.
