The Spirit of Christmas is a thirty minute, made for television Christmas special where marionettes are brought to life and perform two classic stories. The first tale portrayed is "The Night Before Christmas", while the second tale is of the Nativity. Alexander Scourby memorably narrates these wonderful stories as the Mabel Beaton Marionettes act out all the roles of everyone from Santa to the baby Jesus. Imagine the colorful and slightly comical marionettes dancing to Tchaikovsky's 'The Nutcracker'. What great memories adults will recall from their younger days and wish to share with their children or grandchildren. Mabel & Les Beaton, produced this special circa 1950 under their company, Stringtime Productions. This special, so powerful and moving, aired multiple times during the Christmas season in the 1950s and 1960s. So much ahead of its time, the special was filmed in color when all TVs at the time were only black and white. This holiday classic is timeless family value.
