The Stars Are Singing is the story of Polish 15 year old Kari Walenska (Anna Maria Alberghetti), who illegally enters the United States and is discovered to be a great singer. The government is alerted to her presence in the country and attempt to track her down. With only 10 dollars in her pocket, Kari goes to the home of the only person she knows in America, Jan Poldi (Lauritz Melchior). Poldi is a former Metropolitan Opera star whose neighbors are all aspring Broadway stars. They include pop singer Terry Brennan (Rosemary Clooney), dancer Buddy Fraser (Tom Morton), and Homer Tirdell (Bob Williams) and his talented dog Red Dust. Terry overhears Kari's singing voice and immediately takes Kari under her wing. Terry tries to get her auditions all over town. Kari is excited but nervous. If producers cast her in anything, her identity as an illegal alien will be revealed. The Stars Are Singing is a sweet musical comedy from 1953 featuring superb performances of great songs such as "I Do! I Do! I Do!" and "Haven't Got a Worry."moreless
