The Stepdaughter is a drama from 2000, directed by Peter Liapis. Susan Miller (Andrea Roth) had a miserable upbringing in a series of foster care homes. When her thoughts turn to revenge against the mother who abandoned her, Susan starts to search for her biological mother. Susan, who also suffers from mental illness, finds that her mother, Maggie Collins (Cindy Pickett) and Maggie's husband, Jessie Collins (Gil Gerard), own and operate a successful horse breeding farm with a step sister, Linda (Lisa Dean Ryan) that she did not know existed. Susan travels to the ranch and takes a job with the family and moves into their home. When sister Linda begins to suspect that something is not quite right with their new house guest and employee, she does some research and finds out Susan's disturbing secret. The Collins family ends up in grave danger as the mentally disturbed tries to exact her revenge.
