The Stone Killer is a 1973 action film starring legendary American tough guy Charles Bronson in a classic Bronson role as renegade cop Lou Torrey, a no-nonsense detective whose personal sense of street justice and cavalier style has gotten him in trouble with the department. This trouble earns him a transfer to Los Angeles, where the LAPD is willing to take on the hard-boiled cop with the history of violence. His superiors have reservations about him, but he shows up just in time to uncover a deadly Mafia plot. Martin Balsam plays Al Vescari, a don who has waited forty years to avenge the deaths of several of his predecessors. In 1931, several dons from Vescari’s family were taken out in a single night. Now, he plans to kill off several off his competitors in one fell swoop. He hires a group of Vietnam veterans to execute the hits. When Lou Torrey catches wind of the bloody plan, he steps in to take out the man behind it all before the streets run red. The Stone Killer is a gripping film and the second collaboration between director Michael Winner and Charles Bronson.moreless
