The Stork Club is a 1945 American musical film directed by Hal Walker. Judy Peabody (Betty Hutton) rescues Jerry Bates (Barry Fitzgerald) from drowning. What Judy doesn't know about Jerry, however, is that he is very wealthy. Judy is a hat check girl at the Stork Club, a popular New York hangout. Jerry Bates has given instructions to his lawyer Curtis (Robert Benchley) to anonymously reward Judy with anything her heart desires. Though what she truly wants is not of monetary value, but is to have her boyfriend Danny (Don DeFore) return home from serving in the Marines. Jerry gets her a new apartment and all the dresses she could ask for and eventually visits the club and winds up living in the apartment with Judy. Danny returns home to find Judy being lavished with gifts and living with another man and he leaves immediately. Jerry comes clean about being the one to give Judy all of these new things and she must try and get Danny back.moreless
