The Story of Seabiscuit is the 1949 story of one of the most famous champion race horses. The movie tells the story of not only Seabiscuit, but of the love between his jockey Ted Knowles (Lon McCallister) and Margaret O'Hara (Shirley Temple), whose uncle Shawn (Barry Fitzgerald) is Seabiscuit's trainer. The memory of her brother's death causes Margaret to escape to America from Ireland, thinking she would get past what happened. She moves to Kentucky to live with her uncle Shawn. He finds Seabiscuit when he is just a yearling. Margaret and Shawn train Seabiscuit, who quickly becomes one of the most loved horses worldwide. Margaret falls in love with Ted, who goes on to ride Seabiscuit through many successful wins and championships. This movie also features archived, black and white footage of the actual Seabiscuit who can be seen training and winning championships throughout the film. This footage is the focus of the movie, with the love story unfolding around it.moreless
