The Strangler is a 1964 thriller directed by Burt Topper and inspired by the real life Boston Strangler. Leo Kroll (Victor Buono) is a deranged, doll collecting serial killer. Clara (Jeanne Bates) is a nurse taking care of Kroll's mother and soon becomes the next nurse in line of Kroll's killing rampage. Kroll has been leaving dolls at the scene of his murders. He gets the dolls from an amusement park worker named Tally (Davey Davison) with whom Kroll is becoming obsessed. Kroll has managed to evade police by passing a lie detector test, but soon sees another amusement park worker talking to the boys in blue. Kroll kills the woman and throws the police off, as this is the first victim who has not been a nurse. Kroll eventually proposes to Tally and then, after she refuses, plans to kill her. The police stake out Tally's apartment and wait for Kroll to strike.
