The Substitute 2: School's Out is a 1998 crime thriller directed by Steven Pearl. After Randall Thomasson (Christopher Cousins) is killed during a brutal carjacking, his estranged brother Karl (Treat Williams) comes to Brooklyn to discover the truth behind his murder. Karl knows that the crime is related to the gang activity of the Brotherhood, so he goes undercover as a substitute history teacher at Lenthrop High School in order to get more information about the gang. Since Karl is a professional mercenary, he uses his special training to try to infiltrate the Brotherhood. He tries to obtain any information that he can from the young gang recruits at the school while facing off against disruptive, streetwise students and uncaring staff members. As he solves the mystery of his brother's murder, Karl also tries to reconnect with his brother's teenage daughter Anya (Susan May Pratt), who is in more danger than she realizes.
