The Sunset Limited is an HBO film based on the play of the same name by Award-winning author Cormac McCarthy that stars Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson in a story about two very different men, one black, one white, who come together in a New York City apartment to discuss the cause and purpose of human suffering, God, and death. This story, when published in paperback form, comes with the subtitle "A Novel in Dramatic Form." Unlike most plays, this story requires only one set, two actors, and no costume changes, as the plot unfolds entirely through the dialogue of these two characters. Tommy Lee Jones plays a man who, moments prior to the beginning of the play, attempts to take his own life by throwing himself in front of a speeding train. Samuel L. Jackson saves him from his own suicide attempt, and the two men go to his apartment to discuss what just happened. This inventive play is a revealing and gripping rumination on human existence from the author of No Country For Old Men and The Road.moreless
