The Take follows a mild-mannered family man trying to recover his life and reputation after a violent attack. Felix De La Pena (John Leguizamo) drives an armored truck, and lives in Boyle Heights, a primarily Latino working class community in Los Angeles. When cold-blooded criminal Adell Baldwin (Tyrese Gibson) hijacks his truck, Felix barely survives with his life. The police investigation points to an inside job. At the same time, Felix's personality has undergone a transformation. He has become short-tempered and angry as he faces a difficult rehabilitation. Felix's wife Marina (Rosie Perez) tries to understand his drastic change in his personality, but Agent Steve Perelli (Bobby Cannavale) sees it as a sign of guilt. Felix decides to clear his name by single-handedly tracking down the career criminals who planned the heist. Director Brad Furman ("The Lincoln Lawyer") explores the dark psychology of criminals and their victims in this satisfying 2007 drama.
