The Tall T is a classic Western film adapted from a short story by Elmore Leonard. When rancher Pat Brennan (Randolph Scott) loses his horse in a wager, he is forced to travel by stagecoach. He is sharing a ride with newlyweds Loretta (Maureen O'Sullivan) and William Mims (John Hubbard) when a band of outlaws attacks. The stagecoach driver is slain, and it seems like Brennan, Loretta, and William will share his fate until William suggests that the outlaws ransom his wife back to her wealthy father. The gang's leader, Richard Boone (Frank Usher) agrees to keep the hostages alive as hostages until Loretta has been paid for. Though the hostages have bought some time to plan an escape, they suspect that once he has the ransom Boone will turn his gun on them. They turn their efforts to devising an escape, but the odds are not in their favor. What chance do they have against a gang of ruthless killers?moreless
