The Taming of the Shrew is the 1967 screen adaptation of the classic Shakespeare comedy starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, directed by legendary director Franco Zeffirelli, and is now available on Netflix. In the town of Padua, there is no one finer than the beauty Bianca, but with her father decree she may not wed until her older shrewish sister Katherina (Taylor) does. But no man can tame the disobedient fork tongued Katherine, and that is exactly young Lucentio's problem, for he is in love with Bianca and his hopes of marrying her will never come to fruition without a suitor with enough will to change Katherina. Here enters the charming and confident Petruchio from Verona (Burton), who is looking to marry a rich woman. He uses his charm and wit to win over her family and reverse psychology to get Katherina to marry him, and so the lessons begin.
