The Terror is a 1963 horror/suspense film with young Jack Nicholson facing off against a commanding Boris Karloff in an evil tale of death and revenge. The movie opens with mood-creating scenes of violent thunder storms, a dark castle and waves crashing on a rocky coast. Andre Duvalier (Jack Nicholson), an officer in Napoleon's army, has become lost and deathly ill when he is found by the beautiful Helene (Sandra Knight), who ensures he is cared for and disappears. Andre's search for his rescuer leads him to the castle of Baron Von Leppe (Boris Karloff), a dark and ominous place occupied only by the Baron, his servant Stefan (Dick Miller) and the vengeful ghost of the Baron's murdered wife. The ghost of the Baroness and Helene are the same, but Andre does not know this. Believing Helene is a living woman, he falls in love and, despite his good intentions, finds himself trapped in a terrifying mix of double identity, deceit and murder.moreless
