The Texan Meets Calamity Jane is a 1950 western written and directed by Ande Lamb. In the small town of Deadwood Gulch, Calamity Jane (Evelyn Ankers) runs the Prairie Queen, a popular saloon that is known for hosting honest poker games. Matt Baker (Jack Ingram), the corrupt owner of another saloon in town, is losing a lot of business to Calamity Jane, but she keeps refusing to sell her business to him. The deceased former owner of the saloon bequeathed the property to Calamity Jane after she saved his life one day. However, conniving Matt tells the previous owner's niece, Cecelia Mullen (Ruth Whitney), and her lawyer, Gordon Hastings (James Ellison), that Calamity Jane has unlawfully stolen the business. When Cecilia and Matt arrive in town to take over the property, Calamity Jane must try to prove that she is the rightful owner of the saloon. Along the way, she must also stop the schemes of Matt, who will do anything to get what he wants.moreless
