The Thirteenth Guest is a 1932 suspenseful mystery film based on a novel written by Armitage Trail, an author best known for writing Scarface. Thirteen years ago, thirteen guests were invited to a mansion for a dinner party - only twelve could make it. Later that same night, as everyone dined around the dinner table, the host of the party mysteriously died while reciting his will. Thirteen years later, the original twelve members reunite at the same mansion, now dark and decrepit. Marie Morgan (Ginger Rogers), one of the former guests, sits by the table and reminisces on that tragic night from the past when she realizes the other guests have grown very quiet. It is not long before she finds her friends - dead. Now it is up to Phil Winston (Lyle Talbot), private detective, to solve the mystery behind everyone's disappearance. The Thirteenth guest was adapted to film by Arthur Hoerl and Frances Hyland, and directed by Albert Ray.moreless
